Guest List Bridal showers are usually more intimate than the wedding, so invite close friends and relatives. Generally, wedding showers are exclusively for women. However, these days, many couples decide to have co-ed parties for all their friends. Cocktail and dinner parties are good selections for co-ed. If multiple showers are being held, be sure to double-check the guest list. Make sure you are not overtaxing any one person. It is a good idea to finalize the guest list with the bride, or at least her mother or close friend. You don't want to leave anyone out! If the bride is part of a club or organization, this may also be a good source for gathering names. The average shower has between 10 to 30 guests. However, this can reach 40 to 50 if you are holding a co-ed shower. Surprise parties are generally NOT recommended because the bride is probably very busy around this time anyway. Give her time to prepare, maybe choose the theme, and double check the guest list. This will make for a smoother party and the bride will receive the gifts she most needs. Of course, if you know the bride very well, and you know she loves surprise parties, proceed with caution and check with her mother to verify that the proper people are invited.
