Invitation and Guest List Tips 1. Don't forget the thank you cards. Consider matching the designs. 2. Get invitations out early. 3. Keep a notebook of all names and addresses of all possible and final attendees. Plan on leaving space for notes, addresses, and any food items they may bring. 4. Rewrite the notebook with addresses, after the final guest list is determined. Use it at the party to record gifts. The bride uses the notebook to quickly handle thank you's. 5. Style the invitations like the theme of the party. 6. Unless you are absolutely certain, don't surprise the bride. 7. Consider including men for groups of friends. 8. Plan on rewritting the guest list many times. 9. Find a reliable person for each type of guest. One from the bride's family, the bride's friends, the groom's family, and the groom'sfriends. You will need them as you compile the guest's names and addresses. Double check with the bride and/or groom. 10. Enlist friends close to the bride to have a shower prep pizza party where envelopes and invitations are filled out. 11. It can be a nice gesture to include family or friends even though they may not be able to attend because of distance. The bride should enclose a personal message with the invitation. The message might read: "Aunt Anne, I know that you may not be able to make the shower, but I wanted to include you in the celebration!" 12. If the prospect of a large party overwhelms the bride to the point where it won't be fun, scale it back. Make the shower a small intimate gathering for the bride's close friends and the Moms.
