Three Stages To A Party

By segmenting your shower into three stages, you can keep the party flowing.

Don't let it get stale or your guests will get restless. For a three to three and a half hour party, allow about 45 minutes to an hour per phase.

First Stage - Introductions, games, setting the mood
As people arrive, introduce them to everyone, serve beverages and hors d'oeuvres. Socialize or play an easy game to get everyone mixing. This is also a great time to light some relaxing aromatherapy.

Second Stage - Dinner and dessert
Serve food during this phase. You may serve dessert immediately after the meal or wait until after presents are opened.

Third Stage - Play any games or other activities you have planned. If you feel that the opening of presents is going to take a long time, you may want to skip the games and serve coffee and cake while the bride opens presents. As the guests leave, present any additional party favors that were not part of the table setting.
